The St Michael & All Angels Ball takes place every few years and is a hugely popular event. In previous years (right), the Ball has helped raise funds for the restoration of St Michael’s Parish Hall as a highly popular community centre, and for the repainting of the Church. This year it will play an important part in our ongoing Organ and Parish Rooms Appeal.
This year will see an exciting new venue for our Ball, which will be held at The Union, Chiswick, situated within Richard Rogers' award-winning business park (right) at 566 Chiswick High Road, W4 5YA.
Mardi Gras celebrations date back to Roman times.
The Romans’ Lupercalia festival was held in mid-February to honour the god of fertility and agriculture, Lupercus. During the Crusades a carnival like Lupercalia became the last fling of over-indulgence before the 40 day Lenten period of penitence. Our Ball will have the spirit of carnival, and be themed in the official colours of Mardi Gras: purple, green and gold. Guests will be encouraged to wear masks bangles and beads, and above all, to enjoy themselves.
